Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
We are saved by faith apart from works, but true faith will work! Works have no rendering in acquiring salvation but once we are saved we ought to do good works. As a saved person we are his workmanship! We are to be His workman now that we have fellowship with Him. At salvation we are created in Christ Jesus to do good works. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. As a born again child of God with a new nature I am now capable of doing the good works that God wants me to do. As a result of being created in Christ Jesus I then can do good like He did! Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Now this is God's preordained plan for all of His children that they would be conformed to the image of the Son of God. Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Again just a reminder God did not predestine anyone to be saved but He did predestine all those who are saved to be conformed to His Son's image. So as his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus God has before ordained good works that we are to do in becoming more like Jesus Christ. Faith in Jesus Christ does produce good works! We are to people of good works because He has ordained that we should walk in them. In the book of Colossians 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: We also see in 1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. As a saved individual I ought to live a life busy of good works! Not as a means of earning salvation or keeping salvation but as a by product of that salvation. In fact as a child of God I should be peculiar because of the good works I perform. I am to be zealous in trying to be like my Saviour who went about doing good. Titus 2:13,14 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. As we earnestly look forward to the blessed hope the Lord's return we are to be busy doing good works until He comes! Go about today doing good! Help someone. Be like Jesus! Find something good you can do today for someone else and in doing so you will be His workman!
